Getting Started with Voltaire - User

1.1 What Is Voltaire?
Voltaire is a complete system for working with the people and things of the business of art. Whether you are a gallery, or a collector, or an artist, Voltaire will help you manage the stuff you need to work effectively as a business.
Voltaire consists of a suite of inter-related applications. As a User of the system you will be working primarily with the "client" application. The client application interacts with a program called Voltaire Server, and with the database system.
If you are a gallery, the client application you will be using is Voltaire (g).
If you are a collector, the client application you will be using is Voltaire (c).
If you are an artist, the client application you will be using is Voltaire (s).
Throughout this documentation, when we refer to Voltaire, we are referring to your particular client version. So when we say "double click on Voltaire," we mean "double click on Voltaire (g)" if you are a gallery, or "double click on Voltaire (s)" if you are an artist, for example.
Each client version of Voltaire contains shared features with some particular differences. If a feature is discussed particular to a client version, this will be noted in the text; otherwise, this documentation refers to all client versions.
